The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tafo/Pankrono in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sadiq, has called on candidates writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area to remain honest and focused throughout the exam period.
As part of efforts to boost morale and promote discipline, Mr. Sadiq visited some examination centres to personally interact with the candidates and address any challenges.
Nine calm and well-prepared centres have been designated across the municipality to allow BECE candidates to write their exams in a peaceful and comfortable environment.

During his visit, he urged the students to avoid examination malpractice and instead concentrate on applying the knowledge they have acquired over the years.
He stressed that integrity and honesty are not only important during exams but also essential values for life.
“I urge you to comport yourselves as you start the exams, as that will help you to come out with flying colours,” he told the candidates.
The visit was part of the assembly’s support for a smooth and fair examination process within the municipality.

The Tafo Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Betty Drah, also praised the candidates for their calmness and discipline, indicating that the exams have started smoothly and are being conducted in an atmosphere of respect for the rules set by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
She warned against the use of leaked answers, also known as “apor”, and made it clear that the GES will not tolerate cheating in any form.
“They shouldn’t go out to take any foreign materials into the exam centres. They should do independent work. Teachers shouldn’t try to help the students,” she added.

Mrs. Drah said the municipality has not faced any challenges so far.
She expressed hope that the students will perform well and come out with flying colours.
The 2025 BECE began on Tuesday, June 11, and will end on Tuesday, June 18. Of the 2,029 candidates in the municipality, 1,008 are males and 1,028 are females, with only two absentees recorded so far.
