The Old Tafo Youth Development Organisation, based in the United Kingdom, has donated 20 Compaq computers to five Islamic schools in the Tafo Zongo community.

This generous donation aims to promote ICT education and empower young students in the area with modern technology.

The organisation, which is composed of a group of youth originally from Tafo Zongo and now residing abroad, has long been committed to supporting the development of their home community.

Nazir Ali Tchelenon, a representative of the group, shared the motivation behind the donation: “We believe it is our responsibility to give back to the community that nurtured us. We are proud to contribute, especially in the areas of education and health, which are fundamental to any community's growth.”

The computers were distributed across five Islamic schools, including Azharia Islamic School, Ibadia Islamic School, Uthmaniya Islamic School, Imamiya Islamic School, and Anoor Islamic School.

This donation is part of an ongoing effort to enhance educational opportunities for students in Tafo Zongo.

According to Mr Tchelenon, the donation forms part of a pilot project, with plans to expand further soon, “This donation of computers from the UK branch is intended as a pilot project, and we hope to extend it to other institutions soon.”

The donation was formally acknowledged during a ceremony attended by various prominent community members, including the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Seiduc Chibsah.

In his speech, Alhaji Chibsah expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the community, praising the organisation for its initiative. “We are thankful for this wonderful donation and the continued support from our youth abroad.

This will go a long way in advancing ICT education for our young people,” the Zongo Chief said.

Alhaji Chibsah also encouraged the donors to maintain their collaboration with local leaders to ensure that the community's needs are met effectively.

"It is crucial that the donors work closely with us, the traditional leaders, to identify the most pressing needs of the community. This way, we can ensure that the support we receive is impactful and sustainable," he emphasised.

The chief also urged members of the diaspora to stay united and focused on continuing their positive contributions to the development of Tafo Zongo. “Let us all remain united in our efforts to uplift our community,” he added.
