Multimedia Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Kwasi Twum, is all praise and adoration for the ingenuity, zeal and dedication of the Ghanaian youth, saying when given the opportunity, resources and motivation, the Ghanaian youth can achieve anything under the sun.
KT, as he is affectionately called, was speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the media launch Monday of Multi TV, a free-to-air multiple channel digital direct to-home television service already on test transmission nationwide.
Describing Multi TV as “Another Amazing Grace product from our Lord Jesus,” he said it took the can-do attitude, the creativity and diligence of young Ghanaians to bring the dream to fruition in spite of challenging technical, financial and skills constraints.
He said when the idea of establishing the multiple channel, digital free television service was first mooted, some local TV professionals and some established European broadcast technicians had advised that it was impossible “because of the sheer magnitude of financial resources required, the complexity of the digital technology, the paucity of local technical capability, and the lack of sophistry of the Ghanaian market.”
“It took the likes of Abdulai Awudu, Kojo Baidoo, Patrick Ayivor, Daniel Tachie, to mention a few... I mean young Ghanaians to achieve this great feat. The story of Multi TV today is a toast to young Ghanaians that given a great vision, an exciting purpose, skills development and training and proper guidance, they can achieve great results even with limited resources. Indeed, the Multi TV project was executed by mostly young men and women under 40.”
Mr. Twum was grateful to the executive management, the board and the entire team of Multimedia Group for their support through the years, and emphasised that the Ghanaian can be an international champion when given the opportunity.
He was also appreciative of the support of Multi TV’s vendors, technical partners, suppliers, advertisers and others he refers to as prayer warriors.
He noted the ‘Ghanaianness’ of Multi TV as expressed in the symbols of its logo- Adinkra Hene which symbolises greatness, leadership and charisma; Nsa which symbolises genuineness, excellence and authenticity; Bese Sika which also stands for abundance, togetherness, unity and power and Akoma Ntoso, which stands for understanding and agreement.
He said the Multi TV story must inspire young Ghanaians to aspire to great heights even in spite of limited resources in a harsh environment.
Multi TV comes to enrich the Multimedia Group’s stable of exciting media offerings – Myjoyonline.com, Joy FM, Luv FM, Adom FM, Hitz FM, Asempa FM and Nhyira FM.
With a promise to gradually grow to over 200 channels in the future, Multi TV is currently offering great choice in a bouquet of 20 stunning digital TV & radio channels and will begin regular programming from July 15.
