The CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, says his management is not perturbed by a suit brought against one of their artiste, Kuami Eugene.
Speaking to JoyNews’ Doreen Avio, he stated that Nigerian artiste, Oduma Essan, claimed that Kuami Eugene plagiarized his song 'Show Body' is untrue.
He explained that if a person listens to the two songs, the only similarity they will identify is their title.
"So this artiste has taken it to court, and our lawyer sent everything to show them that this case makes no sense. So, it is up to the court to decide.
"You can go on Kuami Eugene's IG or goggle Son of Africa tracklist, and you will see it was released a month before they released their song. So, there is no case."
His comment comes after Ghana-based Nigerian artiste, Oduma Essan, sued Kuami Eugene for allegedly plagiarising his song.
According to reports, the singer claims Kuami Eugene’s ‘Show Body’ featuring Falz on the Son of Africa Album released on October 9, plagiarising parts of his song, which also has the same title.
Oduma Essan stated that the song's title is not only the same as his, but the lyrics of Kuami Eugene’s song and video also bears some similarities to his.
However, Richie Mensah said that “they released their song in August. In July, Kuami Eugene announced his album tracklist, and Show Body was one of the songs on the album. The song was recorded in May. Falz sent his verse on June 6.”
He stated that because the video of Kuami Eugene’s song was released on October 9, Oduma Essan presumes the ‘Confusion’ hitmaker plagiarised his song.
The Lynx Entertainment boss added that he has all the recorded evidence to prove that his artiste did not take inspiration from the Nigerian artiste for his song nor did he copy any part of it.
Richie stated that the suit filed against Kuami Eugene is a "nonsense case" adding that if Oduman Essan truly had a case, he would not have gone to the media first for judgment.
He stated that the artiste is only seeking attention with his suit.
