The quality of healthcare delivery just like any other service industry differs for various reasons. From their location to resources, the quality of personnel and customer care is influenced by management strategy among others. Also, the ownership of the hospitals is a major determinant.
Healthcare delivery in private facilities differ totally in many ways from government hospitals and even with health facilities funded or supported by religious groups.
Many non-health workers have formed opinions about all the categories of health facilities in the country. But have you ever wondered what the practitioners think of their own industry?
This is what the Ghana Locum Group in collaboration with the Risso group sought to do.
They conducted a survey among health workers, Mainly Doctors, nurses, anaesthetists among others to find out what in their opinion was the best and their choice for medical attention in Ghana.
The categorical question was - Assuming money and location were not a factor, which facility would you want to be treated in?
Some 4,000 healthcare workers across the country were interviewed via social media, one-on-one direct questioning and email.
Below is the outcome of their choices, in order of the most chosen facility to the least.
