The Bonsaaso Millennium Villages Project Cluster has appealed to trained teachers to accept postings to the area to help upgrade the standard of education.
Cluster Manager, Mr Samuel Asare Afram, said the physical and economic conditions there should neither be a disincentive nor a barrier.
He was speaking when a nine-member team from the United Nations Inter Programme Group (UNIPG) paid a working visit to the area.
Led by Mr Shigeki-Komatsubara, they are in the country to access the progress made by the Project over the past three years.
The Millennium Village Project is an integrated community-level development strategy to end extreme poverty, working directly with communities, non-governmental organizations and national governments.
It utilizes targeted and comprehensive investments to address each of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs’)
Mr Afram said the Project’s education intervention is focusing on infrastructure, furniture and other supplies and is supporting 62 untrained teachers to receive professional training.
The leader of the team said they are impressed with the good job done so far and that there is evidence of progress in health, agriculture, water and sanitation and infrastructure.
Mr Shigeki-Komatsubara praised communities that form the Cluster for their commitment to the Project and appealed to the district assembly ensure its sustainability.
