Some medical students of the University of Development Studies (UDS) have been asking the authorities of the university to tell them when they will be doing their clinical studies.
The about 17 students, all of them final years have said that they have been sitting at home for close to a year now not sure of when they will go to either the School of Medical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (SMS-KNUST), or the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) at Korle-bu for their clinicals.
Fifth year medical students of the UDS are expected to do a one year clinicals either at Korle-bu or at the SMS
Speaking to Joy News, two of the students said they were supposed to start the programme in May this year, but they are still at home.
According to these students, they have heard a rumour that the UDS owes the University of Ghana Medical School arrears in fees. But even though they have been told that the bill has been paid, exactly when they will be going to school has not been communicated to them.
According to the students, they have made attempts to contact the Dean of the UDS Medical School but nothing concrete has happened so far.
The students told Joy News that they are worried and concerned about the fact that if they fail to begin their clinicals anytime soon, they would have to repeat another year of medical school before they can graduate.
