Some unidentified armed men have attacked residents of Sohapa, a village in the Ningo traditional area of the Greater Accra Region.
In an interview with JoyNews, Chief of the area, Nene Teye Otutu Akam I said Saturday's incident had five persons sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to him, the injured involved three residents and two of the attackers.
Although, Nene Teye Otutu Akam I could not confirm who the invaders were in the recent attack, he suspected that the neighbouring village, Patrendor, had a hand in it.
He explained that that there has been a colossal tension between his people and that of Patrendor for some time which has occasionally led to bouts among the two communities.
“We don’t know where they came from to attack but we know that some people from the nearby village attack us anytime we want to develop any lands in the area.
“But this time, we don’t know where the attackers came from to attack the two men,” he told JoyNews’ Fred Smith.
Following the attack, the Chief says his people now live in fear and anxiety not knowing when the next attack will occur and who will be the next victim of the attackers.
“We are not happy with the way the District Police was handling the situation so we went to the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service for assistance.
“The number of calls I have received from my people this morning has made me very disturbed. The nearby villages that mostly attack us say that we attacked them first so they want a revenge.”
In the meantime, the Chief was optimistic that the Ghana Police Service will work earnestly to determine the perpetrators of the attack and apprehend them.
“We want to go back to our village lives and have a normal lives like we do always,” he said.
