The University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate has launched the UG Corporate Football League as part of its efforts to promote sports engagement within the university community and among corporate organizations affiliated with the institution.
The initiative follows the successful introduction of the University of Ghana Community Games in 2024, which aimed to foster participation in sports among students, staff, and corporate partners.
The first event under this initiative, the UG Corporate Football Gala, was held at the University of Ghana Stadium in November 2024, featuring eight institutions. The tournament was won by The Union Ghana.
To set the stage for the league, the Sports and Wellness Directorate has met with participating teams and key stakeholders to outline the competition’s structure and objectives.
Teams are currently finalizing their preparations, with training sessions intensifying as the tournament approaches.
The UG Corporate Football League is expected to provide a platform for networking, team-building, and sportsmanship while enhancing the overall well-being of participants.
