The US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson, is calling for close collaboration with the Ghanaian government to fight terrorism.
He says Ghana like any country in the world is not immune to terrorism.
Speaking on his maiden visit to the Ashanti region, Ambassador Jackson called for international collaboration against threats.
"Every country in the world needs to be prepared to deal with terrorism and security and Ghana is not unique in that," said Ambassador Jackson.
He stressed that considering that there have been terror attacks in the United States, Europe and in West Africa, it is a phenomenon that every country needs to deal with.
Ambassador Jackson said, "I think that we are becoming better prepared but we always need to be vigilant. If I have one message it is that we need to work together. It is an international problem and requires an international solution."
The US Ambassador visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Komfo Anokye sword site. He was briefed by the Ashanti Regional Minister on happenings at Tafo in Kumasi.
"There is calm at Tafo, ordinarily we should have lifted the curfew, but there is a traditional dimension to it which we have not totally resolved," said the minister.
He added that it is disrespectful traditionally to disregard tradition in resolving issues and resort to administrative means to lift the curfew.
According to him, the curfew was only relaxed from 11 pm - 4 am which is very well respected.
The minister promised that very soon authorities will go through the traditional processes to eventually lift the curfew.
