Ghana’s first Alternative Rock Band Dark Suburb has revealed the misconception concerning their brand has had an effect on their music career.
In an interview on EWITHBECKS show on Joy Prime, they said the misreading of their brand has affected the growth of the group negatively here in Ghana.
“We didn’t believe that people were that superstitious. We are evolving the brand gradually and have a duty to explain to people what the brand seeks to achieve,” the bandleader told Joy News’ Becky.
He explained one of the misconceptions that has affected the team greatly is that they are occultists.
Dark Suburb is a group of anonymous talented musicians (guitarist, pianist, drummers, and singer) who wear skeleton masks as a form of identity.
The band consists of five musicians and a poet, who acts as their Chief Priest and bandleader. They have been able to combine rock with all forms of African style of music.
The group says they are set to release an album later this year and hints of a regional tour.
