The Very Rev. Sam Nii Nmai Ollennu has assumed office as the Head (CEO) of the Ghana National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The Very Rev. Ollennu takes over from Mrs. Patience G.A. Ayesu who has bowed out on statutory retirement after thirty-two years of meritorious service to the Council.
The Very Rev. S. N.N. Ollennu proudly names Labone Secondary School as his alma mater. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry-with-Mathematics from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Master’s in Educational Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Cape Coast and studied for a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

The Very Rev. Ollennu joined WAEC in October 1984 after a four-year stint as a Chemistry teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School.
Prior to his appointment as Head of the Ghana National Office, he served in the Test Development and Test Administration Divisions, was once the Branch Controller of the Koforidua Office, and then proceeded to be Head of the Security Printing Department and the Director of Administration.
As the new Head of the National Office, his vision is to take the world-class status of WAEC to greater heights by exceeding customer and stakeholder expectations in service delivery and client satisfaction.
The new head of WAEC doubles as an Ordained Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana and has authored three published books on Prayerlessness, Good Friday and Marriage Counseling. He is also a recorded gospel musician.
Very Rev. Ollennu is married to Beatrix and they have four children. He loves working with the youth without neglecting the aged. His free times are used exploring computer software and watching cartoons.
