Minister of State-designate at the Energy Ministry, Herbert Krapa, has reassured Ghanaians of the Akufo-Addo government's commitment to ensuring a reliable power supply across the country.
Speaking before the Appointments Committee of Parliament constituted only by members on the Majority Caucus on Tuesday, July 9, Mr. Krapa affirmed that the stable electricity supply currently enjoyed by the nation will continue without interruptions.
The Minority members boycotted his vetting on grounds that the large size of government required reduction rather than addition.
Mr. Krapa highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to make substantial investments in the energy sector.
He emphasised that these investments are aimed at enhancing infrastructure and capacity to sustain the stable electricity supply.
Furthermore, Mr. Krapa noted that under the current administration, electricity has been extended to areas of the country that previously lacked connectivity.
This expansion has aimed to improve accessibility to reliable power across all regions.
Addressing concerns about power outages (dumsor), Mr. Krapa assured the committee and the public that there is currently no dumsor in the country.
He emphasised that Ghanaians have experienced consistent electricity supply, validating the government's efforts in ensuring reliable power.
In conclusion, Mr. Krapa reiterated the government's commitment to continue its proactive measures in the energy sector, promising to maintain and enhance the country's electricity infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.
"The power situation is currently stable, and every Ghanaian can attest to it. We are delivering reliably power supply to the country and I can assure this committee that the government led by President Akufo-Addo will do everything possible to deliver power supply to consumers," he said.
