Rapper Medikal has opened up on why he chose to name his new baby girl Island Frimpong.
According to him, he and his wife Fella Makafui felt she was different from anything else they have had or encountered.
“She came at a time we really needed her to,” he told George Quaye on Showbiz A to Z.
The Omo Ada hitmaker explained that they needed a name that showed not only how special she was but set her apart from everything and everyone.
Medikal and Fella Makafui announced they had welcomed their daughter Island on September 6, six months after tying the knot.
Taking to their social media handles to share the news, the couple added a photo of Medikal holding little Island.
“Welcome to the universe my queen! Island Frimpong. You no get problem, God got us.”
The new born baby also shares the name with her father’s third EP released on July 2.
