It was billed as her big comeback gig at the annual Jazz festival in St Lucia, but fans of Amy Winehouse walked away disappointed. During her hour-long set the singer forgot her words and seemed unstable on her feet - before eventually walking off stage mid-song. Her spokesperson has blamed the weather and "technical difficulties", but some members of the crowd were not happy with the performance she gave throughout. "It was disappointing, it is very sad to see, but she is obviously not fit to be on stage," said one spectator, Kathy who lives on the island. "I was hoping for better; it's embarrassing." 'Wasted talent' At one point Winehouse told the crowd: "Sorry, I'm bored," as she started to sing During Some Unholy War, before changing her mind and attempting to perform Back to Black. Ben, a local resident, said her performance had been "painful". He added: "What a wasted talent. She is on a one-way road to destruction; it's such a shame." Dressed in a pale blue mini-dress and with her beehive resurrected to its former glory, she opened with Know You Now. However, the vocal soon began to falter and by the time she got to the second song, her infamous erratic behaviour was in full swing. Taking her white platform shoes on and off several times during the gig, she bent over to reveal her underwear, causing the crowd to boo and to cheer. As the singer launched into Tears Dry on Their Own, the heavens opened, and it was not long before the stage was plunged into darkness. At one point Winehouse asked whether there had been a power cut. Throughout her shaky version of Cupid, Winehouse kept forgetting the words and mumbling to herself. Vulnerable and distracted "She was on a different planet," said British spectator Natasha. Visibly swaying, and wandering off mid-song, Winehouse seemed vulnerable and distracted. Her backing singers were forced to cover for her poor vocal efforts, carrying her - quite literally at one point - as she leaned on a male band member for assistance. At one point Winehouse sat down on a speaker at the front of the stage and seemed to be staring into space, until she was prompted by her backing vocalist to get back up and continue. Having heard she has been working on new material during her stay on the island, fans had expected to hear some new songs. However, Winehouse stuck to songs already known and mainly taken off her second album, Back to Black. Valerie was the final track Winehouse attempted, before walking off stage mid-way through the song to the confusion of her band, who were not sure if she would be returning to the stage. Source: BBC
