Ghanaian sprinter Janet Amponsah will hope to brighten Ghana’s dismal performance at the IAAF World Championship when she takes to the track in the women’s 200m heats.
The World number will run in the 5th heat of the day hoping to better her personal and season best of 22.90.
She will however face stiff competition from Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith who has a personal best of 22.07 despite running her best of 22.98 this season.
Bahrain’s Shaunae Miller-Uibo has been tipped for gold in the competition but Ghanaians will hope Amponsah can produce a stunning display against all the odds
It has not been a good competition for Ghana so far with Emmanuel Dasor pulling out of his race while Nadia Eke and Alex Amankwaah failed to progress in their disciplines.
