Techiman Heroes ended the zonal League on a high as they recorded a 3-2 victory over Maana FC in Wa to secure a spot in the playoffs. Moro Kalaba Zakaria scored the first goal for Techiman Heroes inside 15 minutes but Ibrahim Alhassan levelled matters for the hosts in the 28th minute as the first half ended 1-1.
After the interval, Techiman Heroes restored their lead through Yakubu Ibrahim Adams and Emmanuel Owusu in the 50th and 72nd minutes before Iddrisu Israel pulled one back for Maana FC in the 86th minute.
Elsewhere, Victory Club Warriors beat Tamale City 3-2 at the Wenchi Town Park to extend their unbeaten home record. Richard Adjei converted a penalty in the 29th minute to give Victory Club Warriors a 1-0 lead but Ridwan Ali restored the hopes of Tamale City in the 47th minute. Charles Dwamena increased the tally for the hosts in the 53rd minute but Tamale City replied four minutes later as Abdul Latif Amadu smashed home from close range. Richard Adjei scored the match-winner as he converted from the spot in the 90th minute.
Still in the Zone, Young Apostles clinched the top spot in Zone 1B despite a 1-0 loss to Techiman Liberty in their final League match at the Ohene Ameyaw Park.
Richmond Amanfo’s 30th-minute own goal secured the points for Techiman Liberty but it wasn’t enough to topple Young Apostles who ended the campaign with 55 points – 8 points ahead of Techiman Liberty.
Young Apostles will battle Techiman Heroes in the Zone One playoff, scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
