The two teams met on match day 25 of the Ghana Premier League with GoldStars hoping to go top of the table.
However, they succumbed to defeat at the end of 90 minutes with a 3-1 scoreline in favour of Young Apostles.
Claude Bortey opened the scoring for the home side in Wenchi after just 20 minutes played.
The lead was extended nine minutes later after Mathias Amegbe scored Young Apostles’ second of the encounter to give them a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Issah Huseine put the game beyond the reach of the Miners in the 74th minute to stretch Young Apostles’ advantage.
John Arthur Godfred scored a consolation goal for GoldStars in added time of second half to make it 3-1 but it was all the Mainers could manage as Young Apostles picked up all three points.
The defeat means GoldStars stay second on the league table, just one point behind Medeama who lost against Hohoe United.
