The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has assured North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that his petition for investigations against Rev. Kusi-Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral will be given the needed attention.

Mr. Ablakwa on Monday petitioned CHRAJ under Article 218 of the 1992 Constitution to investigate an alleged transfer of GH¢2.6million cash from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, a company he said belongs to Rev. Kusi Boateng.

He also alleged a conflict of interest and possession of multiple identities by Rev. Kusi Boateng.

For these reasons, the MP petitioned CHRAJ to investigate the matter.

CHRAJ in a letter signed by the Director of Anti-Corruption, Stephen Azantilow, acknowledged receipt of the petition on Wednesday, January 18.

“I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your complaint on the above subject matter lodged with the Commission on the 16th of January 2023 and to inform you that it is receiving attention,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the National Cathedral of Ghana, Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah has dismissed allegations of corruption and conflict of interest by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

In an interview with JoyNews, Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah explained that GH¢2.6million paid on September 8, 2021 into the account of JNS Talent Centre Limited was a loan from Rev. Kusi Boateng through the company.

He stressed that the amount was requested from the state in August 2021 to be used to pay the contractors but was delayed due to some processes at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.

Hence, the board member offered to loan the money through his company, JNS Talent Centre Limited to be paid later without any interest.

According to him, there is no illegal payment as suggested by Okudzeto Ablakwa and there are documentations which have been submitted to Parliament to prove his explanations.

Rev. Kusi-Boateng has since denied any wrongdoings and corrupt act.
