The first Deputy Minority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, has advised Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, to take his new role seriously and focus on supporting the Minister for Agriculture.
Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25, Mr. Iddrisu cautioned John Dumelo against treating his political career loosely as "you are not in your movie industry."
He urged the nominee to approach his duties with diligence and professionalism.
“If you go to the Ministry, try to assist your Minister. The Ministry is huge, and you should not try to jump the gun. And also note that when you go to the Ministry, you are not in your movie industry as you are. Try to be as serious as you can so that you can be able to assist your Minister to succeed,” Mr Iddrisu advised.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon legislator has been nominated as the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, a position that will require him to contribute to the development of Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister-designate expressed his desire to inspire Ghanaians to pursue their passions and excel in their chosen fields.
"I want to inspire people to be able to follow their passion, follow what they want to do, and do it and do it well," Mr Dumelo stated.
Reflecting on his career, he noted his achievements in acting, business, and politics, acknowledging that while he had excelled in film and entrepreneurship, he was still striving for success in the political arena.
"I'm a man of probably many talents. In the movie industry, I think I did quite well. In the business industry, I think I'm doing quite well. And in politics, I'm yet to do well," he admitted.
John Dumelo believes that by sharing his journey, he can encourage others to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to Ghana’s development.
