Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, has named Medeama striker, Jonathan Sowah, in his 25-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.
The former Danbort FC man scored 12 goals in 20 games to help the Yellow and Mauves win the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title.
Sowah, who is the only local player in the squad, scored the only goal when Medeama beat Nigeria’s Remo Stars in Cape Coast in the CAF Champions League qualifying.
Reacting to the invite, Sowah said, “I'm very happy for this call up into the Black Stars. Many thanks to Coach Didi Dramani who taught me a lot at the Black Galaxies camp.
“It has always been my dream to play for the senior national team.”
Ghana will host the Central Africa Republic in their final Group E game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The Black Stars need a point from the game to book qualification for the tournament to be held in Ivory Coast next January.
