Nations FC shocked Heart of Lions with a 1-0 victory at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday in matchweek 17 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
Côte d’Ivoire international Bi Boris Djangone scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute.
The defeat marked Bashir Hayford’s team’s first home loss of the season after six wins and two draws.
As a result, Heart of Lions, who began the day at the top of the standings, have dropped to fourth place with 30 points.
Nations FC, now with three wins in their last four matches, have climbed to second place with 32 points.
Heart of Lions will host Aduana FC next Sunday in their opening match of the second round, while Nations FC will face Bechem United away on the same day.
