The former Tamale Central MP, Inusah Fuseini, has blamed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s early concession in the 2024 general election for the widespread failure to complete the collation of parliamentary results.
He argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer’s premature congratulatory message to the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) John Dramani Mahama disrupted the Electoral Commission’s (EC) collation process, leading to apathy and confusion at many centres.
Speaking on Citi TV's The Big Issue on Saturday, 12 July 2025, Mr Fuseini noted that at the time of Dr Bawumia’s concession, the EC was still collating both presidential and parliamentary results nationwide.
“His action rendered activities at the collation centres moot. Nobody paid attention to the parliamentary results again,” he said, adding that the move directly affected constituencies like Ablekuma North, where a rerun was held in 19 polling stations on 11 July 2025.
Mr Fuseini further pointed to other affected constituencies—including Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, Akwatia, and Nsawam-Adoagyiri—where parliamentary results were only resolved through court-ordered recounts and recollation.
