Approximately 5,000 Muslims in the Ashanti, Greater Accra, and Upper West Regions are benefiting from food donations as part of the 2025 Ramadan Food Basket Project.
Managed by the Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, this initiative aims to provide food to vulnerable and marginalised Muslims before Ramadan, ensuring they can fast with ease throughout the Holy Month.
For the past three years, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KS Relief) of Saudi Arabia has funded the distribution of food items to thousands of beneficiaries in Ghana through Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, its local partner.
Each food basket contains 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of maize, 4 kg of beans, 2 litres of vegetable oil, 0.8 kg of seasoning cubes, 1 kg of salt, and 2 kg of tomato paste.
At the launch of the project in Kumasi, the Executive Director of Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, Ismail Mohammed Kamil, highlighted that the initiative remains a symbol of hope for many families in Ghana, providing essential food supplies during Ramadan.

He noted that the distribution ensures thousands of families have access to nutritious food throughout the fasting period, with beneficiaries reporting that the items can sustain at least six people for the entire month.
The selection criteria prioritise orphans, the elderly, single mothers, widows, and individuals with physical disabilities.

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Ghana, Sultan Abdurahman Al Dakhel, praised the project as a reflection of the humanitarian and social efforts being made by KS Relief worldwide and thanked the Saudi government, KS Relief, and the Government of Ghana for their ongoing cooperation.
In addition to food aid, KS Relief has been providing various humanitarian services in Ghana, including the construction of 52 solar-powered boreholes in the past two years, with 14 more currently under construction.
