Twenty-nine adult learners at Atwima Behenase in the Ashanti Region have graduated from an adult literacy programme championed by Engage Now Africa (ENA).
They also received training vocational skills such as beads making, bleach and liquid soap production among others, to boost their prospects for earning income.

At the two-hour graduation ceremony in the Ashanti Region town, Assemblyman for the area, Frank Badu, thanked ENA for honouring the Assembly’s request for a literacy programme in their community.

He also lauded the skills training programme the residents received and urged the graduates to make use of their new skills to augment their income to help better their lives.
Speaking as the special guest of honour at the event, he further encouraged the public to prioritise education, noting acquiring basic reading and arithmetic skills were key to unlocking potentials and creating opportunities.
He called for more adults to enrol in the programme in the future.
Literacy Manager at ENA, Jeffery Nyarko, congratulated the learners and also thanked the leaders of the community for inviting the non-governmental organisation (NGO) to run the adult literacy programme in the community.
He also congratulated the facilitators for their selfless act to patiently walk them through to the finish line.
He assured them of ENA’s dedication and support for anyone who intends to be part of the programme and is committed to putting in resources to improving the lives and conditions of the people.
All 29 adult graduates received certificates.
