Engage Now Africa (ENA) has graduated some 42 adults from its adult literacy and vocational skills program at Senya Beraku in the Central Region.

According to reports, residents in the community are saddled with financial challenges, a situation which has compelled many fisher-folks to engage their children as well as able-bodied youth in juvenile labor.

It is in this regard that Engage Now Africa (ENA), a humanitarian organization which exists to lift people from poverty, combat child labour and support developmental projects, has over the past three months engaged some adult in the community in their free adult education and vocational training program to help empower them to improved their livelihood.

The socio-economic project brought together thirty-seven young women and five men to be equipped with appreciable skills in soap making, pastries, batik tie & dye, beads making as well as bee-keeping.

In a speech delivered by Madam Cecilia Amankwah, the Country Director of Engage Now Africa (ENA), graduates were also said to have been schooled in financial literacy as well as entrepreneurship to enable them have competitive advantage as they grow their own businesses.

She also indicated that apart from providing free training, the beneficiaries would also be given start-up capitals for their respective trades.

Madam Janet Butler, the Acting Director of United Way Ghana, maintained that the project would go a long way to promote diversification in the Senya community so that both fisher and farming folks could have multiple streams of income to improve their livelihood.

Some of the graduates, Abigail Quansah and Sandra Appiah expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the organizers for helping them acquire skills that could both land them jobs and also help support their families.

Nana Nenyi Adu Boate, the Traditional Ruler of the community, expressed gratitude to Engage Now Africa (ENA) and United Way Ghana and all stakeholders for their immerse show of benevolence. He urged the organizations to facilitate more developmental projects in the area.

Other dignitaries present included the Assembly man for the area, Mr. Francis Aidoo who is also the Assistant Headmaster for the D/A Basic School.
