Eight people have been confirmed dead following an accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway in the Bono East Region.
About 11 others are said to be in critical condition after the accident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Nyumuase in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Mathias Hospital in Yeji.
The incident involved a minibus with registration number AS 4360-23, carrying 19 passengers from Ejura to Yeji.
All the victims, believed to be businessmen involved in cattle trading, were returning from their day’s activities when the accident occurred.
A survivor told Adom News that the driver was speeding and hit a pothole, which led to the crash.
The Pru East District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul-Nasir Dauda, attributed the accident to the poor condition of the road from Amantin to Yeji and urged drivers to exercise caution on the stretch.
Meanwhile, some of the deceased are expected to be buried today, April 29, 2025, in accordance with Islamic tradition.
