The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have finally settled on the scope of National Peace Council’s dialogue on disbanding party militias.
The Council in a press release Monday state that both parties have decided on key stakeholders and experts to partake in the discussion process.
The release was signed by the two Chairpersons -- Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for the NDC, Freddie Blay for the governing NPP as well as Nana SKB Asante of the National Peace Council.
The parties agreed that the discussion process will have representatives of religious bodies, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Security agencies.
“After an open and exhaustive deliberation, the parties agreed on the immediate scope of the dialogue. In this regard, the parties agreed to commence a discussion on the elimination of vigilantism with other key stakeholders and experts.
“These stakeholders shall include representatives of Civil Society organisations, security agencies and religious bodies,” the release stated.
