The International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) has announced Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the headline speaker at the Evidence to Action (E2A) 2019 conference.  This year’s event on the theme “Responsibility and Accountability: Strengthening Evidence Generation and Use in Support of Policy Reform and Development Agenda,” will be held at the University of Ghana from July 9 to 12. The aim of the conference is to identify and discuss accountability and the responsibilities of stakeholders in the use of evidence to improve development impacts.  According to the Centre, “the Vice President embodies the notion that responsible and accountable leadership is a driver of economic growth and creator of jobs and therefore development.” Explaining its rationale for selecting Dr. Bawumia to headline the Conference, the Centre said, “he brings his experience as a renowned world scholar and a person who has held senior positions in the government such as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, among others.”  The Centre believes the Vice President Dr Bawumia understands the challenges and opportunities facing African economies and how these can be turned into tangible benefits for the African people. President and CEO of ICED, Dr David Ameyaw, said, “We are looking forward to listen to the many insights that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will share with our members and delegates at the E2A 2019 conference.” Also attending the conference, is the Dr Akoto Osei, Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation. It is being hosted by ICED, the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Ministry of Monitoring & Evaluation, Office of the President and in partnership with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access, the Campbell Collaboration, and other partners.
