Tension is mounting at the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), as Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) probes a case of abuse of power and arbitrariness against the Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Ada.
The case is among a number of alleged happenings ongoing at the Company.
Portions of the letter sighted by Joy Business reveals that the Commission is investigating a complaint brought to it by Robert S. Tagoe, then Secretary to GACL board and group executive in charge of Human Capital Development.
Among other allegations, Mr Tagoe cited incidents of abuse of power and arbitrariness against Mr Ada.
The investigation was then launched by CHRAJ following a complaint by Mr. Tagoe against the Minster to have him reassigned to the Aviation Ministry.
But Joy Business understands Mr Tagoe, however, ignored the directive to head to the Aviation Ministry and resumed after his leave on July 29.
This led to him being hauled to the airport district police office by a group of armed officers for unlawful entry to his office.
In his statement to CHIRAJ, Mr Tagoe argues that, given that the GACL is a limited Liability company duly registered, the company’s Regulations and Management conditions of service clearly indicates that who has the power to dismiss or reassign employees.
He said per the regulations, Minister by statute or governance framework of the Airport Company does not have such powers.
Mr Tagoe, therefore, argues that the Minister in his attempt reassign officers is exercising duties he does not possess.
A source said military police personnel were placed on the GACL premises on Tuesday which created tension and fear among the staff.
