Police in Accra say they have gathered enough evidence to begin prosecution for the murder of owner of Tema-based Blay and Associate Chambers, Robert Samuel Blay, two years ago.

On October 5, 2011, Lawyer Robert Samuel Blay drove in his VW Passat to the Tema General Hospital, drenched in blood with a sharp bottle stuck in his neck, after being stabbed by unknown assailants.

Unfortunately, he died before he could tell the world how he was stabbed. His death has since remained a mystery to the nation, and indeed investigators.

But now, the police say they have made significant progress in their investigations as they prepare to prosecute “justice for all programme” beneficiary, Frank Amegadzi for the crime.

Speaking to Joy News, the Greater Accra Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohonu said the three people including Amegadzi are in the custody of the police over the death of Lawyer Blay in 2011.

According to the Greater Accra Police Commander, the deceased was a lawyer for Amegadzi in an Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) robbery case but failed to gain a court bail for him as he ended up on remand for ten years, after which he gained his freedom from a 'Justice for All' programme organized by the Judicial Service in collaboration with the Attorney General's Department.

According to DCOP, Christian Tetteh Yohonu, while in remand, Amegadzi had vowed to teach Lawyer Blay a lesson, when he comes out of prison, for taking money from him and failing to secure a court bail for him.

Additionally, the Police Commander noted that returning from a food joint to Community 12 in Tema with a female friend, Amegadzi emerged and attacked Lawyer Blay, stabbing him with a beer bottle.

Meanwhile, Effah Dartey (Capt. rtd), lawyer for the suspect, Frank Amegadzi, told Joy News that he is shocked the police is accusing his client of being responsible for the murder of Lawyer Blay.

According to Lawyer Effah Dartey, who had promised to defend anybody, who seeks his services as a lawyer, suggested to the police to conduct detailed investigations on the case before coming to court.
