Authorities at the Central Regional Hospital are appealing for support for a mentally challenged woman, who managed to deliver a baby after suffering epilepsy.
Hospital management said they are unable to trace the family of 27year old, who they identified as Maame Tawiah.
The woman was brought to the hospital by one Elizabeth Odame, said to be an Assembly woman at Jukwa Breman, after she found her in a pool of blood, while the umbilical cord had entangled the baby's neck.
Doctors say the mentally challenged woman remains in critical condition and requires blood transfusion although the baby is in good condition and has been discharged.
Kafui Justice, a correspondent with Adom FM reports that a search party has been dispatched to locate the family of the woman. Kafui, who had to pay GHC100 for the upkeep of Maame Tawiah said, the hospital management is considering sending the baby to the Social Welfare Department.
