Nearly everything can be recycled these days. Even human excreta can power our homes.
40% of waste produced in Accra live with residents uncollected. Of the 60% collected, the percentage recycled is negligible.
It appears the only reason why our environment is consumed by the products we consume is because, the mind is unused. The only reason why waste is a problem is because the mind is first wasted.
In this picture, we highlight a program initiated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The agency has began the implementation of a waste segregation program to improve waste management in the country.
At the program launch last week, the EPA mounted an exhibition to show how plastic products can be recycled.
Here is a sofa made friom plastic water bottles. The commercial value and durability of the sofa is unknown but with this creative use of waste, the challenge of finding its value is not even worth calling a challenge.
The EPA launched the project in collaboration with waste management companies like Jekora Ventures, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd and Universal Plastics Products Recycling.
