Three men, believed to be armed robbers, have been shot dead by the Police at East Cantonments after they allegedly attacked a house there.
A fourth person managed to escape. It is unclear if he was hurt in the shootout with the Police.
DSP Freeman Tettey of the Police Public Affairs Department said the Regional Command picked up intelligence about the attack and launched operation 'Sting'.
"They (Police) were confronted by the robbers who opened fire so they have to return fire, and in the process three were gunned down", said DSP Tettey.
He said one the robbers died instantly, while two died on their way to the hospital.
He indicated that the Police are currently on high alert because the Christmas season is fast approaching.
Armed robbery activities are usually at a peak during the Christmas festivities.
