NDC’s Mubarick Masawudu has asked all his supporters to remain calm after some of them stormed the Ashanti regional office of the party to protest his disqualification from the Asawase parliamentary primaries.
The disgruntled supporters of Masawudu besieged the party’s office last week to burn tyres in protest of the party’s decision to allow incumbent MP, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka to contest unopposed.
The decision to allow the Minority Chief Whip run unchallenged follows the opposition party’s acceptance of a report by the Doe Adjaho Committee which was constituted to look into petitions surrounding the selection of parliamentary candidates.

Clearly displeased with the decision of the party, some of Masawudu’s supporters went rogue, taking matters into their own hands.
However, in a statement, the parliamentary aspirant “condemned in no uncertain terms” the episode at the party’s office.
“We wish to state that Mubarick Masawudu will not condone or sanction such action as his belief is well anchored in the democratic principles of rule of law, party discipline, fairness and objectivity,” aide to the disqualified aspirant wrote.
