Residents of Larterbiokorshie, Mataheko and surrounding areas would have water running through their taps by close of day Monday, the Ghana Water Company Limited has assured.
Residents of these communities in Accra have expressed worry about the cut in water supply for two weeks now.
According to them, many people are forced to walk long distances to fetch water.
Michael Agyemang, Public Relations Officer of the GWCL, attributed the situation to a malfunctioned valve on a “very big pipeline” at Awoshie junction.
He told Joy News Monday that even though by Saturday the problem had been fixed, “unfortunately” power supply to the Weija Treatment Plant which supplies water to the affected areas was cut.
The Mallam sub-station was shut down for maintenance works on Sunday, he said.
“So because of that the whole of yesterday (Sunday) we couldn’t pump water into the system, fortunately the power is back.”
Mr Agyemang assured: “As we talk now we have started pumping so I believe that by close of day pressure will build up enough for the people of Laterbiokoshie.”
