The Ghana Post Company is being threatened with a fresh legal action by consultancy firm, Sky Consult, which in 2010 won a 1.8 million cedis judgment debt against the company.
Part of the amount was paid, leaving a remainder of one hundred and thirty thousand.
Sky Consult went to court to demand its share of profits accrued on a national money transfer service it set up with Ghana Post. The service has since been suspended.
Chief Executive Officer of Sky Consult, Abubakar Millah Monday told the Judgment Debt Commission’s hearing that he intends suing Ghana Post again for breach of contract.
He told the Commission they had been expecting the Ghana Post Company to approach them to settle the case of contract breach, but they have not made any approach.
“We spent so much money buying computers to computerize Ghana Post outlets country wide, took a bank loan, incurred so much cost,” he said.
Officials of the Ghana Post Company who appeared before the Commission asked for more time to get hold of documents on the transaction, to be able to properly react to the concerns.
Lawyer for Ghana Post, Kwesi Adjenim Boateng said they have written to their external solicitors who handled the case to retrieve documents to be able to appropriately testify in the case.
When the Commissioner Justice Yaw Apau asked about what they intend doing about the fresh threat of a legal action, he said the issue has now come to his attention, and they would take steps to resolve it.
