The Ga Central Municipal Assembly, at Sowutuom in the Greater Accra Region, has honoured outstanding individuals and organisations that helped the assembly to execute its development projects.
Mr Aristo Aryee, Municipal Chief Executive said at the function that the assembly, within a short period of time has been able to chalk out a number of successes in the area of road construction and maintenance, health , civic education and community development.
He said the assembly also encountered challenges in revenue mobilisation due to lack of data base to set revenue targets.
“Other areas of challenge facing the assembly; are lack of adequate office space, difficulties with spatial and physical planning…as well as effective coordination and cooperation among the various departments of the assembly,” he noted.
Mr Aryee said the municipality would have a national health insurance scheme in January 2014.
He said the assembly would secure an office space for their first Zonal Council at Anyaa, which would be duly opened for operations by the end of February 2014.
Mr Aryee asked the staff of the assembly to be committed in their efforts towards the development of the municipality in particular and the country as a whole.
Ms Regina Nutornutsi from the Finance Department was awarded the overall best worker, while Gifty Kyeremeh Yeboah from Rect Academy was adjudged the overall best student while her school was awarded the overall best school in the municipality.
