The Homicide squad of the Police service is investigating the murder of a 36 year old Immigration Officer at his residence in Tema.
Kofi Defor, who recently completed a law course at the Zenith University College was shot and killed in his living room by suspected armed robbers on Saturday.
This was in spite of pleas by his wife to the robbers to wait for her to go upstairs and bring them money.
This is the third murder case in the Tema Metropolitan area in the last 40 days. Rosemond Nyampong, an employee of Stanbic Bank was murdered in a room, in Sakumono early December. One person was arrested and currently being prosecuted. Few days later the Akosombo Branch Manager of Zenith Bank Kwesi Sekyi Prah was also murdered at his home in Tema,
Just when the police continue investigations into the two murders, a third, has been recorded.
Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent, David Eklu told Joy News their investigations so far show that five men, one of whom was armed with a pistol broke into the couple’s apartment.
He said the recent spate of armed attacks are major setbacks to the security hitherto enjoyed in the Metropolis and the police are deeply concerned.
He noted that security has been beefed especially with assistance from the Head Quarters in Accra.
According to him, the family of the deceased person is traumatised and is yet to comment on the incident.
The Police Commander said they will hopefully meet with the family later Monday to gather more evidence on the matter.
