Police in Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo Region have established the identity of the attacker who stabbed a police chief to death Monday night.
40 year old Kofi Fofie who called-in at the Badu Police Station in the Wenchi District, allegedly stabbed to death59-year-old Inspector Awusi Yakubu, the Divisional Commander who was recording his complaint over threats on his life.
Fofie, who is married with three kids was later shot and killed by one of the officers at the station in defence of their lives.
Crime Officer for the Wenchi Divisional Police Headquarters, DSP Vincent Adotey told Joy News the police are however yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the police officer who shot Fofie has been removed from the area to prevent attacks on him.
The two dead bodies have been deposited at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital for autopsy and investigation.
