Government will on Monday, January 6, 2014, hold a "Special Forum" the first anniversary of the John Mahama Administration.
The event which will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre at 3pm, a statement signed by Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said.
The statement noted that the forum is "in line with government’s commitment to deepen transparency and accountability and would be addressed by key government ministers".
It is unclear if the president, John Mahama, who returned to the country Saturday morning from his vacation trip to Dubai, will be attending the forum. The statement however said the Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah–Arthur will be the Special Guest of Honour for the occasion.
"Under the theme 'Advancing the Better Ghana Agenda: Prospects for 2014', the forum will be addressed by Ministers of State including; Hon Hanna Tetteh-Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Fifi Kwetey-Minister of State in Charge of Financial and Allied Institutions, Dr Edward Omane Boamah-Minister of Communications and Hon. Samuel Okudjeto- Ablakwa-Deputy Minister of Education," the release said.
The statement further entreated the general public to be part of this event.
The John Mahama administration came to power following the National Democratic Congress' 'one touch' electoral victory in December 2012.
Its closest challenger, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Akufo-Addo contested the results of the polls by alleging fraud.
The Supreme Court after eight-long months of hearing, on August 29, 2013, dismissed the case and upheld John Mahama's as validly elected to the high office of President of the Republic Ghana, as announced by the Electoral Commission on December 9, 2012.
