Four persons including a toddler, were killed in a road crash at Eduagyei near Ayensudu on the Elmina-Takoradi road, Thursday.
The accident happened when an articulated truck heading to Accra, knocked off a Takoradi bound Yutong bus on which the deceased were aboard, injuring 17 others.
The Yutong bus with registration number GR 4844 -13 carrying 34 passengers, fell off the road killing the four instantly. It took rescuers over an hour to get other passengers trapped in the crushed bus out .
Eyewitnesses say, the toddler was heard crying vociferously in the bus for help but was later found dead.
Three other people, including another toddler are said to be in critical conditions while about a dozen others who sustained varying degree of injuries according to medical officials at the Central Regional Hospital, are recuperating.
According to Joy News Correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko, the articulated truck driver after causing the accident sped off but was arrested later by patrol a team from the Central Regional Police Command.
Meanwhile, the badly damaged Yutong bus has been toed off the scene of the accident to allow free flow of traffic.
