Police in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, have arrested their colleague officer for allegedly shooting a student dead and injuring another.
The injured is said to be in a critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The incident happened last night at Atonsu Chirapatre in Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses told Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor that the gun accidentally went off when the police man was speaking to the victims.
The bullet was said to have forced out the intestines of the deceased, Samuel Mends before hitting his cousin, Edith Mends, who is 17 year old.
The police administration is however, giving a contradictory scenario on how the incident happened.
Asare Donkor reported the police as saying, the suspect's gun accidentally went off when he was alighting from the police vehicle.
Investigations have meanwhile began on the case.
The suspect and two others, who were with him when the incident happened, have been granted police enquiry bail.
The Regional Police Commander and his assistants have also paid a visit to the victims' families.
