I last met with Komla on Friday the 17th when he recorded his last ever show of Focus on Africa and this is my tribute to him, which I thought I would share with you:
...You were endowed by Him before you became known to us by us...and you did your life's calling with zeal, speed and panache. A consummate professional, you were stylish and elegant; with an astute flair for words and a sound understanding of the value of the tick-tock of studio time.
And on the eve of that day of the eerie, pre-destined calling from beyond our realm, when I heard you speak on a lighter note; to the gathering around Stephane and your studio mates, I believe you must have been at your most dainty and eloquent best and; basking in such an amazing glow of happiness at the delight that Sir John was around, then unknown to all, to grace the twilight of your life.
None then, could have envisaged it was the great Potter's moment in time, to etch into our memories forever, a time of parting that compares to none.
Now, the bells of time doth chime still; the farrow can no longer plough and; none can alter destiny's course; except replay the flickering ember of shared moments in time, wherein for now, it has all but tapered out forever in this realm of time. Fare thee well, one whose life, many will seek to emulate as a new dawn rises.
And as Sir John did motivate you, may those young ones both far and near; who aspire without any fear to run further still than you could ever have; be inspired now and forwards; by the glowing African trail that you have blazed across our many scattered and presently disenfranchised lands of promise and light....
