A 30-acre Indian hemp farm inter-cropped with cassava at Liati-Soba in the Afadjato-South district was set ablaze by Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Volta Regional Minister on Tuesday.
The farm located some six kilometers from the community at the foot of a mountain range allegedly belonged to one Awudu Gavi.
Following intelligence reports, a Police and Military team last Sunday arrested Sylvanus Gavi and Kodzo Gavi working on the farm.
The Police team gathered about 30 heaps of Indian hemp, which was set on fire.
Mr Afotey-Agbo advised young people to go into cassava plantation which is in high demand because it has become an important ingredient in the brewing of beer.
Madam Angela Alorwu-Tay, District Chief Executive for Afadjato-South said she was surprised at the size of the farm and was grateful to the team for the effort.
Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister said similar exercises would be done regularly.
