An Accra High court has been asked to dismiss a ruling by the Kaneshi District Court, granting permit to the Ghana Police Service to detain and retrieve some personal items belonging to the National Communication Officer of the opposition NDC, Sammy Gyamfi.
This, according to counsel for the applicant, Godwin Ekudzi Tameklo is because, the District Court lacks the jurisdiction and also erred in law, when it gave the ruling which sought to disregard the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the applicant as enshrined in Chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution.
The 27-point suit which was sighted by Joy News is also demanding an order to transfer the case from the District Court to the High Court.
The suit is also requesting for an order restraining and prohibiting the Ghana Police Service from accessing the personal items seized from the applicant.

The Cyber-crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service extended an invitation to the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi over an alleged cybercrime offence.
The invitation follows a complaint made to the police by the seat of government, Jubilee House.
Sources close to the Communication Officer say the police were earlier given a warrant by the Kaneshi District Court to seize items belonging to Mr Gyamfi, including mobile phones, for investigation purposes.
A formal request was also sent to the social media platform, Facebook, to hand over the account details of Sammy Gyamfi to them.
