Police at Nkwanta in the Oti Region have arrested a 20-year-old woman from Togo for allegedly stealing a 2-year-old child at Nkwanta South.
The suspect, Abigail Char, disappeared with the girl after she had been taken in by the grandmother of the child, Rafa Karim.
Narrating the incident, Rafa said Abigail arrived at her house supposedly from Kpassa of the Nkwanta North district and needed a job while she waited for her sister who allegedly lived in the same community but had travelled.
Rafa gave her a job as a helper in her porridge business as she also helped cater for her 2-year-old granddaughter.
Two days later it was discovered that the little girl was nowhere as she had been taken away by Abigail.
Police at Bonakye Barrier later apprehended and arrested her along with the two-year-old girl and sent back to Nkwanta Police for which they issued a medical form to them to go for treatment.
The suspect is now in police custody and will be slapped with charges of child theft after the conclusion of investigations, the police confirmed.
