A Member of the Council of State, Edward Gyader, has expressed worry about the level of indiscipline and corruption in the country.

‘‘Currently the primary cause of our woes is perceived corruption and mismanagement. All past civilian governments and even some military ones have been accused of corruption and economic mismanagement,” he said..  

Speaking at the 35^th annual national rally of the Ahmadiyya Muslim youth in Wa, Dr Gyader stated that there is a complete breakdown of discipline and respect for rule of law all in the name of democracy and freedom of speech.

"Is it that all our leaders are inefficient in their leadership roles or is that the Ghanaian society is corrupt"? he questioned.

He argued that indiscipline breeds corruption, whilst greed, disregard for the rights of others and above all selfishness contradicts every principle of nation building.

‘‘A disciplined person cannot be corrupted and he will not corrupt. People now think of themselves and not the nation Ghana. It is only at the time of international football competitions in which Ghana is involved that people demonstrate a high sense of nationalism and love for the fatherland.

“Even now the issue of football uniting us is seriously threatened because of the behaviour of ourselves,’’ he lamented.   

The renowned surgeon said in order to succeed as a nation, the citizenry should demonstrate unflinching love for the nation.

The external affairs secretary of the Ahmadiyya Mission Ghana, Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim urged the youth to give priority to their faith above everything on this earth.

The Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya or the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation was founded in 1939 by the second Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Bahirudeen Mahmud Ahmed.

It was established on the principles of service and sacrifice, and to inculcate commitment to one’s faith, one’s country and the world in general.

On yearly basis, members of the organisation converge in their respective countries to hold rallies to address challenges facing the Muslim youth with a view to finding solutions to them.

Over seven thousand members of the organisation from all ten regions in the country converged at the N.J.A College of Education Park in Wa for this year’s conference.

The three-day National rally is being held on the theme ‘‘Priority to faith, the key to ensuring prosperity’’. 

Prayers were said for the former Ameer in charge of the Ahmadiyya movement in Ghana, Maulvi Wahab Adam who passed away on Sunday June 22, 2014.
