The US-based Ghanaian woman who reported sick to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Thursday morning with symptoms associated with COVID-19 has tested negative.
This is according to the Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr Badu Sarkodie.
The unnamed woman is said to have traveled from the United States to Ghana earlier this week before reporting to KBTH for medical treatment.
Sources say the woman passed mandatory checks on thermal screens at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) because she was on pain medication.
Doctors explained that when a person is on pain medications their temperature is suppressed.
The thermal screens are meant to detect high body temperatures associated with persons with a possible coronavirus infection and other diseases.
So far, no suspected COVID-19 case has tested positive in the country. In total there have been 34 suspected cases recorded.
