The Speaker of Parliament has directed the fumigation of Parliament House as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye has also directed a re-arrangement of seats in the chamber so Members of Parliament (MPs) keep enough distance from one another in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
Also, he wants spaces to be created using the public gallery and other available areas so MPs do not sit too close.
Meanwhile, Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak has also called for a reduction in sitting hours so MPs have less contact.
Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu disclosed leadership is exploring moving sitting to the Accra International Conference Center to improve upon conditions in the chamber.
